Why is it Good to Give Perfume as a Gift?
Perfumes and colognes are universally accepted as one of the good ideas for gifts, no matter what the occasion or who the recipient is. The reasons for that are:
- When you gift someone perfume, you give the impression that you put a lot of effort into choosing the right one.
- Almost everybody loves perfumes, even people who are not interested in purchasing them, so you will minimize the risk of selecting something inappropriate as a good gift.
- Scents will always remind the recipient of the person who gave it to them whenever they use or wear the perfume because of the scent memory power.
- Fragrances and perfumes are often considered luxurious and personal items and will last with the recipient for a reasonably long time.
- The availability factor is very high. You can find perfumes and colognes almost everywhere you look!
What to Consider When Choosing Your Perfume Gift
When you decide to give perfume as a gift, you have to make sure that there is a good chance that it would appeal to most if not all people.
To ensure exactly that, I will give you some excellent perfume gift suggestions for men and women that are guaranteed to be very nice as gifts and have a high mass-appeal factor.
Perfect Perfumes to Gift a Man
Versace Pour Homme – Versace
Versace Pour Homme is a delightful scent. It is fresh, clean, airy, inoffensive with a high compliment factor. It is a versatile scent and can easily fit any season or occasion. There is a lot of similarity with Chanel Allure Homme Sport at a much affordable price.
- Seasons: All-Year-Round
- Notes: Lemon, Neroli, Bergamot, Rose de Mai, Hyacinth, Cedar, Clary Sage, Geranium, Tonka Bean, Musk, and Amber.
The One for Men Eau de Parfum – Dolce & Gabbana
The One Eau de Parfum is one of the sexiest fragrances on the market. It is a masculine scent with a warm vibe from the amber and tobacco. There is an Eau de Toilette version of this fragrance that has almost the same scent, but the Eau de Parfum lasts a little bit longer. The only negative thing is the longevity, which is moderate at best.
- Seasons: Fall, Winter, and Summer Nights.
- Notes: Grapefruit, Coriander, Basil, Ginger, Cardamom, Orange Blossom, Amber, Tobacco, and Cedar.
L’Homme – Yves Saint Laurent
This fragrance is arguably the nicest smelling scent for men. It has citrus and ginger with a creamy touch in the background. It is suitable for office settings and perfect for dates as well as close encounters. The only weak spot – like the previous one – is also the performance, so keep that in mind.
- Seasons: All-Year-Round.
- Notes: Ginger, Bergamot, Lemon, Spices, Violet Leaf, White Pepper, Basil, Tonka Bean, Cedar, and Tahitian Vetiver.
Boss Bottled – Hugo Boss
Boss Bottled from Hugo Boss is the most famous fragrance that this house has ever released, and for a good reason. It has the freshness of green apple and citrus with the warmth of cinnamon and vanilla, making it perfect all year round. The longevity is above average, with a cozy and comfortable vibe to it.
- Seasons: All-Year-Round.
- Notes: Apple, Plum, Bergamot, Lemon, Oakmoss, Geranium, Cinnamon, Mahogany, Carnation, Vanilla, Sandalwood, Cedar, Vetiver, and Olive Tree.
Bleu de Chanel – Eau de Parfum
This fragrance from Chanel is considered the originator of all the blue fragrance genres. It is on the expensive side but with excellent quality. The mass-appeal factor with this scent is high with a fantastic freshness from the grapefruit mixed with ginger, incense, and a creamy woody base. It is perfect for any occasion and has above-average longevity. There are Eau de Toilette and Parfum versions, but the Eau de Parfum is the best of both worlds.
- Seasons: All-Year-Round.
- Notes: Grapefruit, Lemon, Mint, Pink Pepper, Bergamot, Aldehydes, Coriander, Ginger, Jasmine, Nutmeg and Melon, Incense, Amber, Cedar, Sandalwood, Patchouli, Labdanum, and Amberwood.
Perfect Perfumes to Gift a Woman
Franck Olivier – Franck Olivier
This fragrance is an oldy but a goody. It doesn’t smell outdated at all. It is juicy, fruity, flowery, classy, and complex at the same time. This scent is different than anything on the market today, and the performance is great with hours of longevity and projection. The composition is on the heavy side, so it is more suited for cold weather. As a side note: whenever my wife puts this perfume on, it is Game Over for me!
- Seasons: Fall, Winter, and Spring.
- Notes: Peach, Plum, Black Currant, Grapefruit, Ylang-Ylang, Jasmine, Heliotrope, Rose, Vanilla, Sandalwood, and Musk.
Premier Jour – Nina Ricci
Premier Jour from Nina Ricci is one of the safest fragrances for women. It is light, airy, simple, and clean. It contains very bright and fresh floral notes. I couldn’t think of anyone who would dislike this scent. It is more suited for warm weather because of its light composition. The performance is above average with a moderate projection.
- Seasons: All-Year-Round.
- Notes: Sweet Pea, Mandarin Orange, Gardenia, Orchid, Musk, Sandalwood, Woodsy Notes, and Vanilla.
Crystal Noir – Versace
This fragrance from Versace has a unique smell that will turn heads. It is dark, rich, soapy, and sexy with a strong coconut vibe. It gives a feeling of an expensive shampoo or body lotion, but in a good way. The longevity is excellent with good projection and sillage. This fragrance has an Eau de Parfum version, but this review is for the Eau de Toilette, so keep that in mind.
- Seasons: Fall and Winter.
- Notes: Pepper, Ginger, Cardamom, Coconut, Gardenia, Orange Blossom, Peony, Sandalwood, Musk, and Amber.
Queen of Life – La Rive
This fragrance is simply one of La Vie Est Belle’s best clones, the popular scent from Lancome, at a much affordable price. It opens up fruity and sweet with some floral touches; after a while, it maintains its sweetness with a gourmand base from the vanilla and praline. The performance is excellent on the skin, considering its price tag.
- Seasons: Fall and Winter.
- Notes: Pear, Black Currant, Iris, Jasmine, Orange Blossom, Praline, Vanilla, Tonka Bean, Patchouli, and Almond.
Idôle – Lancome
Idôle from Lancome is the newest fragrance on this list. It is mass-appealing with a great compliment factor. The perfume opens up with very juicy fruity notes with light florals backing it up. Idôle is an office-friendly scent suitable for casual wearing. Idôle is more expensive than the previous ones, but it is worth it and one of my favorite fragrances in my wife’s collection.
- Seasons: All-Year-Round.
- Notes: Pear, Bergamot, Turkish Rose, Rose de Mai, Indian Jasmine, White Musk, and Vanilla.
